Frequently Asked Questions

Aerolase Laser Facial

The Aerolase Neo is an aesthetic medical laser that provides a premium patient experience unrivaled in dermatology and aesthetics. Uniquely gentle, the Neo offers complete skin rejuvenation in a safe, effective, and tolerable treatment for all skin types and tones. The Neo’s unique 650-microsecond technology is attracted to a combination of melanin, hemoglobin, and water in the skin tissue – which contribute to your skin’s signs of aging. The Neo’s energy passes through the skin to selectively heat these targets without adverse effects – resulting in clear, healthy skin. The 650-microsecond pulse eliminates discomfort during treatment and provides safe, highly efficacious results for even the darkest skin tones.

Chromophores, such as hemoglobin, melanin, and water, are the targets that the laser energy is absorbed by. The Aerolase is a unique laser because its energy is able to be absorbed by all three of these targets, allowing it to address multiple conditions.

Hemoglobin: When targeting hemoglobin, which is the chromophore for vascular lesions, the Aerolase is able to calm redness, rosacea, inflammation from acne, angiomas, and spider veins. -Melanin: When targeting melanin, which is the chromophore for pigmentation issues, the Aerolase is able to lighten hyperpigmentation, melasma, brown spots, and other pigmented lesions.

-Water: When targeting water, the Aerolase is able to heat the water in the dermal layer of the skin, creating an internal temperature change which increases the skin’s collagen production leading to smaller pores and a reduction in fine lines.

Acne: The Aerolase targets P. acnes bacteria, which is the main bacteria responsible for active acne lesions. Not only does it kill this bacteria to sterilize the skin’s surface and prevent future breakouts, but it also targets excess oil production and inflammation to calm current breakouts quicker.

The Aerolase Neo Elite is effective and safe for all skin types. With the variety of chromophores it is able to target, it can serve as a treatment for a vast array of conditions while also addressing multiple conditions at once. The laser is gentle, requires no numbing, and has no downtime associated with it besides mild redness which subsides in an hour. This makes it an excellent treatment choice to address specific skin concerns as well as incorporated into one’s skin routing for general maintenance.

The Aerolase uses pulsed laser energy to heat up the skin. It has often been described as a warm sensation on the skin similar to sitting in the sun.

The number of recommended treatments and timeline for results depends on the condition being treated. It is typically recommended to start with 4-6 treatment sessions spaced 3-4 weeks apart. You will notice an improvement in skin texture, tone, and hyperpigmentation within the first week post-treatment, with results continuing to improve with subsequent treatment sessions.

Skincare: We advise our patients to discontinue retinol and any ingredients with actives (AHA/BHAs), physical exfoliants (facial scrubs), and self-tanner for at least 3 days prior to treatment and 5-7 days post-treatment to avoid any excessive irritation or overdrying the skin. Make sure to wear sunscreen daily, as the treatment can make your skin more sensitive to the sun.

-Exercise: You can resume your normal exercise routine following the treatment. If you are outside, make sure to be diligent with sunscreen application every two hours to treated areas.

-Makeup: You can wear makeup after the treatment. If active acne is being treated, we recommend you wait until the next day.

It depends on your goals. For most clients, a recommended treatment plan of 4-6 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart helps bring ideal results. After you complete your initial sessions, we also recommend getting it annually for continual maintenance.

Plasma injections are an exceptional way to heighten your Aerolase laser facial results since they help speed up your recovery time and enhance results. You can get this treatment immediately following your Aerolase treatment session.

Stop retinol use and exfoliating active ingredients (ingredients in your skincare that cause physical or chemical exfoliation, like scrubs) 1 week before treatment. Wait to book your appointment for 4 weeks after being sunburned. If you have a fresh tan—whether from the sun or an artificial tan—wait 2 weeks before receiving this treatment.

Avoid strenuous exercise or any other activities that make you sweat for a few days following your treatment.

You can begin applying makeup the day following your treatment.

You should begin using a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF as recommended by your provider. You cannot exfoliate for 1 week following your treatment.

It’s possible to experience slight redness for a few hours following your Aerolase treatment.

Aerolase Acne Laser Facial

NeoClear by Aerolase offers patients of all ages and skin types a new safe, effective, and tolerable treatment for acne using advanced 650-microsecond technology. NeoClear is a powerful acne treatment that eliminates the major factors causing acne including excess sebum production, inflammation, and the p. acnes bacteria. Typically, many different treatments, medications, or skin care options are required to address these factors, but NeoClear can achieve this with a single device. The unique settings of the 650-microsecond device allows energy to penetrate deeply into the skin within a highly safe and tolerable pulse to reduce sebum production, suppress inflammation, and destroy the p. acnes bacteria to help clear current acne breakouts and to stop them in the future. Also, the deep heating energy helps build collagen, which can reduce the appearance of acne scars and leave skin looking radiant.

Both our Standard Laser Facial and Acne Laser Facial are performed using the Aerolase NeoElite, which is a Nd:YAG laser. The Aerolase Laser Facial consists of our standard treatment, which is a series of passes of pulses of laser energy over the entire face. The Aerolase Acne Laser Facial contains an extra step of treatment, where a different laser lens is utilized to hyper-target active acne lesions and post-inflammatory erythema from acne to resolve them quicker. The Aerolase Acne Laser Facial is recommended for patients experiencing moderate to severe acne (multiple papules/pustules/cystic lesions).

While you will begin to see improvement in your acne after the first treatment (less breakouts, less redness, active breakouts resolving quicker), most of our acne patients typically see a more significant difference after their fifth or sixth treatment. We recommend being consistent with the treatments monthly until the acne is under control and then transitioning to a maintenance schedule tailored to your skin.
